A masked armed robber who tried to hold up a convenience store in Walsall was wrestled by the brave owner, Ajaib Singh Garcha, 61, and daughter, Parminder Garcha.

The footage was recorded on a in-store CCTV which was released by the West Midlands police to track down the suspect who made a run for it after being on the wrong side of the scuffle.

The masked man came into the Spend ‘n’ Save store in walsall around 7pm December 25th last year.

The recorded CCTV footage shows the masked gunman entering the shop and then immediately pointing the gun towards father and daughter.

The father then risks his life and bravely lunges towards the armed man trying to disarm the gun from his hand.

Scuffle between Ajaib Singh Garcha and masked gunman.

Mr Garcha’s daughter then comes to help and between them they successfully removed the armed man from the shop, forcing him to flee.

West Midlands police have taken statements of father and daughter and have made a plea for any witnesses or passing driver who seen the incident to come forward.

The masked gunman is around 6ft 2inch tall and has a slim build. At the time of the incident he was wearing a grey coloured hooded tracksuit and a mask.

It is believed he made a run for it from the shop to Wednesbury rd.

Detective Con Gerry Maley, from Force CID, said: “As the footage shows the store’s owner and his assistant managed to overpower the assailant and wrestle him out of the shop in a matter of seconds.

“We know the struggle continued outside and believe a number of passing vehicles slowed down and perhaps even stopped to witness the scuffle – I am urging these people to get in touch.

“Although the description is limited, it’s likely the individual is from the local area and someone will know exactly who is responsible.”
