Agampodi Dezoysa, 25 has been jailed for 12 years with an extended license period of 5 years for rape and assault on a teenage girl.

They met in an out of town party and he latched on to his victim, in the next month he then subjected her to a campaign of physical and sexual abuse.

Agampodi who is studying at Manchester Metropolitan University first showered his victim with gifts.

Gradually he started to manipulate and control her.

Agampodi claimed that his father is very wealthy with properties all over the world. He also claimed that he has killed 27 people including the woman who shot his grandmother.

He would always brag about his bodyguards and claimed the British intelligence agencies were protecting him from the police.

Sentencing, Judge Martin Rudland said the ‘delusional landscape’ he created ‘would have been very frightening’ for a girl of her age.

The court was told he raped her on 4 different occasions staring from Oct 2016 in Renaissance Hotel in Manchester.

The second time was after 10 days at Travelodge where she raped the victim twice despite she clearly said no.

Agampodi then started to emotionally blackmail his victim and brainwashed her to hate her own family.

He then raped her a fourth time in November 2016 in Liverpool at the Block Hotel.

He was arrested from the Britannia Hotel in Manchester after he got drunk and became paranoid and beat her up broke the hotel property.

He first asked his victim to strip naked, he then punched and kicked the girl in the face while she lay on the floor.

He then pulled the TV from the wall and hit her with it, He then chocked her till she passed out.

When she regained consciousness he made her clean the mess including her own blood while recording it on his mobile phone and then went to sleep.

The victim managed to escape while he was asleep and called for help, police arrested him from the hotel room.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment.

Agampodi Dezoysa, of north London pleaded guilty to 4 counts of rape and assault amount to gross bodily harm.

Adrian Farrow, defending, said: “The psychiatric report explains, but of course does not excuse, much of his behaviour.

“He does not accept the diagnosis but will have to learn to live with it.”

Dezoysa was labelled a ‘predatory’ sex offender and a danger to society as he was given prison sentence of 12 years, with an extended licence period of five years, which means he is at risk of being recalled to jail until 2035.

Sending him down, Judge Martin Rudland said: “It may well be that she (your victim) was attracted to the way you presented yourself.

“But it soon became clear you could control, and to a degree manipulate her so you could prey on her sexually, which you did on a number of occasions, on a sustained basis, at a number of different locations.

“I accept you were clearly suffering from mental illness in the form of a delusional personality disorder with which you have now been diagnosed. But you were also prepared to inflict violence on her.

“If it had not been for that it could well have been that this form of conduct could have continued and she would have been your creature to do your bidding whenever you wanted.

“I consider you a danger and significant risk to the public of serious harm if you are not closely monitored in future.”

He was handed a 12 year jail term and will not be eligible to apply for parole until he has served two thirds of his sentence. A restraining order prevents him from contacting or going near his victim.

Dezoysa will automatically be deported to Sri Lanka after his sentence due to the seriousness of his crimes.
