A Pakistani man failed in his bid to fake a faint to avoid arrest and deportation by the Kedah Immigration Department of Malaysia on Friday.

In the 7pm incident, the 35-year-old man was taken to the department’s Enforcement Division office in Anak Bukit after he was released from jail for offences under the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009.

State Immigration Department director Zuhair Jamaludin said when officers told him that he would be arrested under Section 35 of the Immigration Act 1959/63, the man created a scene before suddenly ‘fainted’ on the floor.

“A few minutes later, his father, who was seated not far away, was seen holding his chest and fell off his chair.

He said to avoid further unforeseen circumstances, the department contacted the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital for medical assistance.

A medical team rushed to the department and after checking both father and son, gave them a clean bill of health.

Zuhair said the man was then detained and later taken to the department’s detention depot in Sik for further action. Both will be deported soon.
