Jawaher Saif Al Kumaiti, 22, saved a burning man’s life by putting out the fire with abaya.

She went to see her friend at the hospital and on the way back she saw 2 trucks on fire.

One of the truck drivers managed to jump from the truck but not before his clothes caught fire.

Jawaher asked her friend to take off her abaya so she can put out the flames.

Speaking to the Khaleej Times in the United Arab Emirates , Jawaher said: “I was rattled to see the two burning trucks, and got shocked when I saw a man on fire screaming for help.

“I requested my friend – who was with me in my car – to give her abaya and asked her to stay inside.

“I immediately rushed to the driver, put out the flames and covered him with my friend’s abaya.

“I calmed him down, telling him that he would survive as the rescue teams will arrive soon.”

Hospital staff confirmed that the driver had suffered 40% burn and would have died if Jawaher had not put out the fire.

Jawaher added that there were other people who were just watching the man burn and did nothing to help him.

The young woman, who works for Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), the state-owned oil company of the United Arab Emirates, said: “They were like mute spectators, looking at the man on fire who was screaming to save his life.

“The police patrols, ambulance and paramedics shortly arrived. They swung into action, provided first aid to the driver, and rushed him to the hospital.

“All thanks and praise to Almighty Allah who gave me the power and courage to act and intervene into the situation at the right time and rescue the man’s life.”

Police in the city have confirmed Jawaher will be rewarded for her bravery.
