Abraham Davis, 20, was caught on CCTV footage helping a friend who was spray painting a swastika , go home and fu*k you Islam on a masjid in Arkansas.

Davis was sentenced to community service and was ordered to pay a fine of $3200 (£2,355).

If Davis would not pay the fine he would face jail so the Mosque leaders paid his fine so Davis could avoid jail.

Davis was jobless and didn’t have any money to pay fine. Davis had been in prison for about three months when he wrote a letter to the mosque apologizing for what he had done.

Louay Nassri, president of Al Salam Masjid, said: “We heard that he was having financial problems. Now if you don’t pay your fine, that’s an automatic six years in jail. Well, we didn’t want him to go to jail for six years.”

“After all that he had been through, we didn’t want him sitting on the severe financial stress, And like I told him, we want him to have a much better future.”

They money used to pay Davis fine were from the mosques development fund.

Nassri added “We thought this was the right thing to do, We thought if someone does something bad and comes and apologises, you just forgive them. That should be the natural thing. We had no idea that this forgiveness would be an international story.”

“Al Salam’ means ‘peace’, and that he strives to uphold that meaning. ‘If he would have known who we were, he wouldn’t have done this, If we would’ve known his troubles with us, we would’ve tried to help him. Communication is extremely important. Education is extremely important.”

Davis speaking to media said he was amazed by the mosque leader’s kindness after all the wrong he had done.

Davis said “It’s a great weight being lifted off my shoulders, And I don’t deserve it, but this act of kindness, it’s just, wow.”

Davis has now found himself a job at a local petrol station.
