An employee for Jaguar Land Rover has been locked up behind bars after he raped a 17-year-old student who came to Birmingham for a night out.
Birmingham Crown Court heard the cowardly attack left the victim’s life in shatters who has suffered from panic attacks and nightmares after she was raped.
Usman Waheed, 24, of Sparkhill has been convicted of rape at a trial at Birmingham Crown Court and has been sentenced to serve six and half years behind bars.
He was also ordered to register as a sex offender for life.
The victim and one of her female friends told their parents they were going to Manchester for a night out but went to Birmingham instead.
Once they were in Birmingham, they tried to get into the Rainbow Club in Digbeth with fake ID but were refused entry.
Both friends were stranded as the next train to get home was the following morning.
CPS Timothy Harrington, said: “The victim was particularly vulnerable in the circumstances she found herself in.
“She was just 17 in a strange city with nowhere to go.”
The victim had then met Usman who was with some of his friends, he then drove her to a remote industrial estate where he raped her in the back of his vehicle.
In passing sentence Judge Roderick Henderson said: “She came with a friend from the North East to Birmingham for a night out.
“They were not as mature and sophisticated as they thought they were and they were not able to get in the club.
“They crossed the path of you and some of your friends.”
He further said “You knew that she was lost and far from home.
“I accept there was some consensual activity but there came a point when she did not want it to go on further.
“That was crystal clear to you but you carried on and raped her.”
