Two days have passed since the chaotic UFC 229 occurred and no one knows what punishments await to undefeated Dagestan champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov, after the post-fight brawl that took place at UFC 229 on Saturday. According to UFC President Dana White, the possibility of Khabib being stripped of his title is not off the table.
The Russian fighter apologized for actions during his post-fight press conference, but he also questioned why the brawl is the overarching narrative coming out of the UFC 229 headliner.
“First of all I want to say sorry to (Nevada State) Athletic Commission, Nevada, sorry to Vegas,” Nurmagomedov said in response to a question from MMAjunkie. “I know this is not my best side. This is not my best side. I am human being.”
“I no understand how people can talk about I jump on cage,” Nurmagomedov said. “He talk about my religion, he talk about my country, he talk about my father. He come to Brooklyn, and he broke bus. He almost kill a couple people, worry about this (expletive). Why people talk about I jump on cage? Why people still talk about this? I no understand. My California seven years. Everybody know who I am. All my friends. Everybody who know me, they know who I am.”
Dana White Reveals Khabib’s Punishments
The Dublin pride made $3 million whilst the undefeated Lightweight champion made a disclosed $2 million flat rate. However, there’s news circulating on the Internet that McGregor was paid.
Whilst NSAC freeze and withholding the undefeated’s paycheck because of the incident. Yet, no one knows how long the NSAC might withhold Nurmagomedov’s pay while it starts an investigation into the post-fight melee.
The UFC President, Dana White, thinks NSAC shouldn’t keep Khabib’s whole purse ($2 million). “They took his whole purse right now and they’re talking about keeping his purse – I do not think that that should happen,” White told TMZ Sports. “You should not be able to keep his whole purse.”
Howbeit, considerable punishments awaits to “The Eagle” for the fracas he set forth at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Dana White went on TMZ Sports and confirmed that the Lightweight champion is going to get suspended.
“I think they should take ($250,000) from him,” White said. “(He) absolutely keeps his title. And he’s going to get suspended, so maybe you give him a four to six months suspension.”
White has also expressed his opinion and how “disgusted and sick,” he was over what happened. “He shouldn’t have done it,” White said.
“He’s the world champion. He’d just beat Conor in front of the entire world. Stand up, get that belt wrapped around you. You won. You won. The guy who’s yelling at you means nothing, that guy means nothing.”
