Amir khan will be donating Rs 1million (£10,997) to a dam fund that will be built to help fight the water shortage.
The boxer appreciated the current Pakistani government’s effort to help raise awareness and promised to donate more after his upcoming fight against Samuel Vargas.
He urged other celebrities and locals to contribute to Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar’s fund after cricketer Shahid Afridi pledged Rs 1.5 million (£16,500).
The former I’m A Celebrity contestant also garnered media attention after his wife Faryal Makhdoom took to Instagram to discuss her marriage via the new ‘Ask me a question feature’ and said that she had ‘no idea’ why she married so young.
This comes after claims that he had cheated on Faryal 17 days after she gave birth to their child with 22-year-old beautician Sophia Hammani, but what is Amir Khan’s net worth?
Who is Amir Khan?
Born Amir Iqbal Khan on December 8 1986 in Bolton, Greater Manchester to a family with roots in the Punjab region in Pakistan.
He began to box competitively at the age of 11 and achieved early honours including three English school titles, three junior ABA titles and gold at the 2003 Junior Olympics.

A year later, he qualified for the 2004 Summer Olympics after finishing in first place at the 1st AIBA qualifying tournament in Bulgaria.
Here, Amir took home a silver medal from the Athens games and became Britain’s youngest Olympic boxer aged just 17 since Colin Jones in 1976.
After losing 30-22 to Cuba’s two-time defending champ Mario Kindelan, he made his debut against David Bailey in July 2005 and knocked him out in the first round, according to The Sun.
Now a professional boxer, he went on to score 18 wins but then lost to Colombia’s Breidis Prescott in the MEN Arena in Manchester.
Searching for a comeback, he managed to get his career back on track and beat both Paulie Malignaggi and Marcos Maidana in an eight-bout winning streak that lasted three years.
Amir lost to Lamont Peterson and was reinstated as WBA and IBF light-welterweight champ after the American failed a drugs test.
Despite losing to Danny Garcia, he won against Carlos Molina, Julio Diaz, Luis Collazo, Devon Alexander and Chris Algieri. However, in 2016, he lost to Canelo Alvarez after stepping up to middleweight, as reported on Boxing News Online.
He returned to boxing earlier this year and took a win over Phil Lo Greco in Liverpool and is expected to fight his rival Kell Brook at the end of 2018, after Brook pulled out of the Brandon Cook July 28 clash due to an ankle injury.
Amir Khan next fight
Amir Khan’s next fight will be against Samuel Vargas at the Arena Birmingham on September 8, 2018 in a welterweight contest.
‘I have to get past Vargas before looking at the biggest challenges going forward. I’m not going to be taking Vargas lightly because I know he will be coming with everything on September 8,’ Amir said.
He continued: ‘One of my aims this year was to be as active as possible so I’m very happy to get back in the ring again so soon against Samuel Vargas.
‘Vargas is a tough and well-schooled fighter who has shared the ring with some top welterweights including Danny Garcia and Errol Spence Jr.’
In response, Samuel Vargas said: ‘I’m going to give Amir hell. I have been granted more than enough time to properly prepare for Amir and you will see the best Samuel Vargas to date.
‘Mark my words, we might both be from the same city and county but I am nothing like Phil Lo Greco that’s a guarantee.’
Amir Khan’s wife
After claims emerged that Amir Khan had cheated on his wife of five years Faryal Makhdoom 17 days after the arrival of their second child, Alayna Khan, she took to Instagram to answer the question: ‘Why did you get married so young?’
She replied: ‘Tbh I have no idea’. Faryal was 19 when she met Amir and they married a year later in New York, inviting 4,000 guests. On the social media site, Faryal was also asked: ‘How do you stay patient in difficult times and when your heart is broken?’
Faryal said: ‘Alhamdulillah for my bad times. It brings me closer to my creator. Remembering him gives you patience.’
The boxer was caught on private dating app Raya last month and the couple temporarily split in August 2017, but reconciled after three months apart.
After it emerged that Amir had had a fling with the 22-year-old beautician Sophia Hammani, Faryal shared two quotes on Instagram that many considered to be jibes at her husband.
The first read: ‘Enduring hardship is more rewarding then enjoying ease,’ which she attributed to Imam Ali.
The second said: ‘It may happen that you ask God for something and he does not give it you to you in order to endow you with something of better quality later,’ also by Imam Ali.
After admitting that she had spent a night with Amir in his hotel room, Sophia claimed that he made her feel ‘sick’.
Sophia also revealed that Faryal had forgiven her for the fling, despite Amir rejecting the claims as ‘nonsense’ on Twitter, saying that she was simply a fan unhappy that he would not pose for a photo with her.
‘What total nonsense! She was wanting a pic but was told to leave by security due to her being too drunk. IMO that’s the reason she sold a story.’
Amir added: ‘Quite strange at the fact that there is no photos of us together. Supposedly, i gave her £20, is that all she’s worth?’
Last year, the pair accused each other of cheating, with Khan also claiming that his wife had an affair with heavyweight rival Anthony Joshua.
Khan hit out at his wife at the time, writing: ‘Left my family and friends for this Faryal. I’m not hurt but another fighter. I’m making it public. You getting the divorce #Golddigger.’
Faryal hit back and said that her husband left his family because they had ‘robbed’ him and telling him to ‘stop making false things up’.
The boxer filed for divorce in September 2017 after family feuds and public rows and announced on Snapchat, ‘So me and Faryal are not together. I have filed for a divorce.
‘I hear she has just announced she is pregnant. She didn’t tell me. I had to read it on social media.’ The couple got back together two months later.
He announced this news with a family picture, writing: ‘With my 4 month pregnant wife, after sorting out all the issues. Closing the year with a happy ending.’
Amir Khan net worth
Amir Khan’s net worth has accumulated to approximately $30 million (£22.5m), according to Celebrity Net Worth.
He has garnered most of his earnings from fights, but has also made money from his appearance on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!
Reportedly the highest-paid contestant in the show’s history, Amir Khan had a pay cheque worth £400,000 waiting for him when he left the jungle, according to IBTimes.
A source revealed: ‘Amir was a great get, but he came at a hefty cost. He’s going to be the best-paid celeb they’ve ever had. There have been rumours of huge sums being paid to the celebrities but they’re often highly exaggerated.
‘Katie Price got somewhere close, but Amir’s is slightly higher again. He’s a huge name in sport and current after his recent marriage problems,’ they added. Campmates are usually paid between £25,000 and £250,000.
However, according to The Richest, Amir received $600,000 (£452,000) for his 2013 fight against Julio Diaz, $1 million (£753,000) for the 2012 clash with Carlos Molina and the same for his match with Danny Garcia.
The 2011 fight against Lamont Peterson won Amir Khan $1.5 million (£1.1m).
Amir also launched a Super Boxing League in Pakistan and has a drinks range named after him in the country.
